Presentation Exhibition Chronicle of the exhibition

An exhibition of works by Picasso that belong in the private collection of Catalan artist Manolo Hugué. Picasso and Hugué struck up a personal relationship when they frequented Els Quatre Gats, and remained friends for the rest of their lives.

For a few days the Museu Picasso is exhibiting for a few days some of Picasso's works that express his personality and his relationship with one of our most beloved artists, sculptor Manolo Hugué (Barcelona, 1872 – Caldes de Montbui, 1945).

The personal ties between the two date back to the time they both patronised Els Quatre Gats, and continued in Paris and Ceret. We could even say that they went on after Manolo's death, as illustrated by the posters of the sculptor's wife, Jeanne de Rochette – Tototte – and of their adopted daughter, Maria Rosa Jordana, made in 1953 during Picasso's last sojourn in the south of France.

Drawings, lithographs, posters and a wonderful collection of ceramic pieces, many of them with dedications, also bear witness to their friendship.
