Pablo Picasso. Ludwig Collection
The first exhibition presenting works in the permanent collection of the Ludwig Museum. These paintings, drawings, sculptures, ceramics and prints by Picasso are essential to further the understanding of the most important stylistic changes in his career.
The idea of displaying this wonderful collection in Barcelona was put forth by the Museu Picasso and readily accepted by professors Peter and Irene Ludwig. For the first time, the collectors loaned a significant number of their works for a temporary exhibition at the Museu Picasso. The paintings and sculptures, drawings, prints and ceramics on display reveal the rich stylistic variation and diversity of technical procedures characterising Picasso's oeuvre. Opening with works from his youth and closing with the works of his late years, the show is crucial for our understanding of the most important changes produced during the artist's long career.
