An exhibition of photographs of Picasso by Roberto Otero. Thanks to the photographer's friendship with the artist he was able to capture images of his daily personal life, less well known than his artistic activity.

Picasso is possibly the clearest example of the artist malgré lui. Behind the genius there was a humane, vibrant, ingenious and friendly figure. The man who shied away from both the mundane and the picturesque attributes with which he was usually portrayed should perhaps have been more visible in the commemoration of the centenary of his birth. Consequently, a faithful 'portrait' of Picasso required a return to authenticity, and in this sense the Roberto Otero exhibition and the book that accompanies it are a positive gesture welcomed by Barcelona City Council.

Otero's friendship with Picasso provided him with many an opportunity to take pictures of the artist in his everyday occupations: Picasso at work, Picasso and family, Picasso the friend and the intimate Picasso. These eloquent and hitherto unknown images are enhanced by dialogue.
