Tauromachy Exhibition
An exhibition of photographs by Francesc Català-Roca on the subject of bullfighting, explored by Picasso throughout his career.
The Museu Picasso is pleased to welcome a selection of one hundred and fifty-six books containing illustrations by Picasso from Jean-Léon Steinhauslin's private collection. The exhibition is another example of the fruitful collaboration between an art lover and a public museum.
The Steinhauslin collection has assembled an interesting series of Picasso works that provide a complete overview of the artist's evolution. Steinhauslin purchased his first original illustrations in artists' books for his collection in 1954, though he would soon decide to limit its scope to one single artist, Picasso. Asked why, he explained 'Because Picasso is the greatest and most brilliant artist of our century, but above all because I liked his works. And in art, the best investment is the one made in works that touch the heart.'
