Paris-Barcelona (1888-1937)
This large exhibition traces the connections between Paris and Barcelona from 1888 to 1937, years in which the French capital was the source of inspiration for Catalan artists and intellectuals.
This ambitious show intends to examine and confront the artistic relationships forged in Paris and Barcelona between 1888 and 1937. The connections established between the two cities, when the French capital became the inspiration for Catalan artists and intellectuals, is the core of the show, which provides a unique occasion to discover a representative selection of Catalan art of the late nineteenth century and first half of the twentieth century. The presentation focuses on the plastic and decorative arts, architecture and photography, through the works of the artists who had one foot in each culture, besides revising the models imported from Paris that became touchstones in the shaping of modern Catalan culture.
