Futurism, 1909-1916
This exhibition dedicated to Italian Futurism highlights the connections and differences between Futurism and Cubism, the influence and the overtones of the latter on the former.
The museum long held the idea of organising an exhibition on Italian Futurism to highlight its connections with Cubism, which certainly exerted a great influence on it, focusing especially on the differences between the two movements.
The exhibition revolves around those who signed the Manifesto della pittura futurista in 1909 and who have been defined as the first Futurists (Balla, Boccioni, Carrà, Russolo and Severini), and those who, like Picasso, wanted to join the revolution that in the early twentieth century resulted in the transformation of art. Indeed, this idea of transformation was behind both movements, albeit from two totally different positions.
