This representative selection of works by German artist Max Ernst provides a vision of the most varied engraving techniques: etching, lithography, collage and frottage.

Thanks to Loplop (his self-portrait as a bird), his dreamlike visions and imaginary journeys to infinity, Max Ernst managed to escape the narrow-mindedness of his hometown and reach the whole world. He also proved his great talent for innovation in the development of new plastic techniques.

A friend of Max Ernst's and a specialist in his oeuvre, professor Werner Spies has made an exemplary selection for this show. This is one of the most complete displays of the graphic work by the German artist and includes examples from a range of printing techniques such as etching, lithography, collage and frottage.
