Presentation Exhibition Chronicle of the exhibition Artworks of the Collection

A selection of prints from the museum's collection that depict Picasso's visions of the world of Graeco-Roman mythology. In this fusion of narrative and history that unfolds in myth, Picasso expressed his creative genius.

The exhibition shows how Picasso's engravings recreated scenes and characters from the fertile world of Graeco-Roman mythology, which would always hold a great appeal for him. In this unreal universe that aspires to plausibility, the artist tells his stories about gods, natural – more or less deified – phenomena and legends about heroes and heroines. These myths try to explain the forces or phenomena of nature, the qualities or moral realities of man as an individual and his social experiences.
