Other Artists in the 1970 Picasso Donation
Presentation of the works by other artists that Picasso had left in his family residence in Barcelona when he moved to Paris in 1904. These works would also form a part of the donation the artist made in 1970 to the city of Barcelona.
This small group of works by other artists is not homogenous and consists of pictures by unknown painters and others by colleagues and pupils of Picasso's father's, such as Rafael Blanco Merino or Leandro Oroz Lacalle. It also includes paintings by some of Picasso's own friends and colleagues, chiefly from his time as a student at Llotja art school and his visits to Els Quatre Gats, i.e., Carles Casagemas, Santiago Rusiñol, Manuel Pallarès, Manolo Hugué and Julio González. The show is structured in three areas: the family and academic sphere, the Quatre Gats circle and the works by artists whose relationship with Picasso transcended the Barcelona context.
