Sonia and Robert Delaunay
A general survey of the work by artists Robert and Sonia Delaunay that pays special attention to the prolific years 1914 to 1921 in which the couple lived in the Iberian peninsula.
Presenting a general view of the oeuvre of Robert Delaunay (Paris, 1885 – Montpellier, 1941) and Sonia Delaunay (Ukraine, 1885 – Paris, 1979), this exhibition focuses on the period they spent in Portugal and Spain, fleeing from the First World War. From 1914 to 1921, Sonia and Robert settled in Via Dominho (Portugal), Vigo, Barcelona and Madrid, successively. The show brings together a representative selection of works made in the various media the couple explored during this prolific period: paintings, drawings, prints, ceramics, textile prints and costumes.
