Hélène Delprat / El souvenir de les batalles perdudes / The Souvenir of Lost Battles

2025

This publication presents the intervention of French artist Hélène Delprat (Amiens, 1957) in the galleries of the Picasso Museum. Delprat's work is deeply concerned with issues of identity and memory, expressed through painting, sculpture, installation, and photography. Within her work, she creates a highly personal and at the same time defiant imaginary world. There are also references to Picasso. Her piece Je n’aime pas beaucoup Guernica (2016–2019) is a statement of intent; we also see her with a flag that doubles as a spear of resistance, set against an image of the artist in a bathrobe. Hélène Delprat constructs rich and meaningful imaginary worlds that reflect her individuality and resonate within the collective sphere of the public realm.
